Halloween was a great time when I was a kid in Brooklyn. I ran around with a group of neighborhood ids who had an older brother or cousin that you hung around by. Not with. but it was enough security for your parents to feel safe. There were not that many wackos running around. Now there is all sorts of controversy about it. First of all you weren't allowed or encouraged to wear your costume. That was for after school. So after school we ran around the streets chalking them up with pastel. Hitting the sides of buildings and school yards with a sock filled with chalk dust. At sundown after supper we would again roam the streets knocking on doors and did both trick and treat. To those times.
Halloween
Halloween is a nice holiday for kids,
They put on costumes and masks,
Under faces of make up and plastic,
Smiles beam and they are happy.
From door to door they go,
Trick or treat, trick or treat they say,
Hope to get that for which they came,
Then those little feet run away.
They fill their bags with all the loot,
Candy, fruit and pennies,
The jack o' lanters, smile at them,
See how happy they are.
On their way home they are glad,
They have such treasures,
Then they eat all those goodies,
Hiding what is left from mom,
Then, they puke their brains out,
Get sick and suffer,
Miss school the next day,
But they don't die.
